ReadAloud 2009 Schedule 

ReadAloud invites the community to join us for our Fall programming in the Thompson Library (ground floor northwest, opposite to the Berry Cafe) beginning October 1, 2009. Stop by and enjoy faculty, staff, students and community members reading from their favorite works.


Thursday, October 1, 3-4 pm
Ann Hamilton, Department of Art, shares four texts that inspired her floor installation project in Thompson Library.


Thursday, October 8, 3-4 pm   

E. Gordon Gee, University President of The Ohio State University, will share his favorite reading. Maryann Walther-Keisel, Center for East European and Slavic Studies, will read  from Viy by Nikolai Gogol, a Slavic supernatural tale and possibly other scary tales.


Thursday, October 15, 3-4 pm                                                                      

Chan Park-Miller, Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures, will present a piece of p’ansori, Korean Storysinging.


Thursday, October 22, 3-4 pm

Doug Dangler, Associate Director of The Center for the Study and Teaching of Writing, will share Cat’s Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut or one of his short stories.


Thursday, October 29, 3-4 pm

“Julia and Joyce: Two Fifties’ Outsiders Tell their stories”: David Stebenne, Department of History will read selections from Julia Child’s memoir entitled My Life in France and Karen Simonean, director of Media and Public Relations for the Wexner Center, will read from Joyce Johnson’s Minor Characters: A Beat Memoir.


Thursday, November 5, 3-4 pm                                                                       

Sandra Alexander will read from The Pact and also showing scenes from her brother’s indie film Grandpa’s House.


Thursday, November 12, 3-4 pm                                                                

Jeannetta Holliman, Rodyn H. Douglas, and Chiquita Mullins Lee reading a piece they wrote collaboratively called Twelve, a creative nonfiction work. The dramatic reading recounts and weaves together the individual stories of the authors at the age of 12. The stories are told in the voices of the 12-year-old girls.


Thursday, November 19, 3-4 pm                                                                

Melanie McGurr, University Libraries and readers from her class will share a collection of readings in honor of Jane Austen.


Leer en Voz Alta : Special ReadAloud Program in Spanish organized by Ted Riedinger, Latin American Studies. Thompson Library, ground floor northwest (opposite to the Berry Café) 

                                                             

Tuesday October 20, 3-4 pm
Ignácio Corona, Department of Spanish & Portuguese will read from  modern Spanish writers.


Tuesday November 3, 3-4 pm
Spanish to Portuguese
