Join us for an informal discussion
about a scientific topic. Anyone is welcome, although seating
may be limited. We will meet in the Science and Engineering
Library Room 090/070 (Basement) - 175 West 18th Ave on
the OSU Campus.

| Title: | Urban Coyotes - finding the truths, debunking the myths |
| Summary: | Coyotes have proven to be very adaptable animals and are thriving in many cities across the U.S. Although the coyote is common throughout the US, many aspects of the coyote remain mysterious and poorly understood. Dr. Stan Gehrt has been conducting research on urban coyotes in the Chicago area since 2000, making it the largest study of its kind. To date, nearly 500 coyotes have been captured and monitored. He will present results of the research and along the way address myths and truths about this amazing carnivore. Things to be discussed will include their movements, social behavior, survival, and food habits, and what these mean for coyote/people conflicts. |
