학교 안에서는 합법적으로 일할 수 있어요. 절차는 우선 On Campus Job Opening이 있는지 알아보고 application 작성 후 apply 하면 되요. 인터뷰 들어오면 인터뷰 보고 Accept되면 원하는 서류들 작성하시면 됩니다. 그리고 일을 하고 급여를 받을려면 SSN (Social Security Number) 이 필요로 하는데 학교에서 일자리를 잡으면 그쪽 고용하신분으로 부터 Employment Verification Letter 의 Section 1을 작성 받고 OIA에 Immigration Coordinator로부터 Section 2를 싸인 받으면 됩니다. 그 다음에 다운타운에 있는 Social Security Administration (200 N. High Street) 에 가져가시면 SSN을 만들 수 있습니다. SSN 신청하러 가실때는 I-20, I-94, 여권, Employment Verification Letter를 가져가야 하고 거기서 SS5 을 작성하고 신청하면 영수증을 주는데 한달 안에 신청서 작성시에 작성한 주소로 SSN이 날라 옵니다. 참고로 SSN이 있으면 미국에서 신용도 쌓고 여러므로 좋습니다. SSN 카드 받으면 학교 Office of the University Registrar located in 320 Lincoln Tower 에 가서 정보 업데이트 하고 Office of the Controller located at 2nd floor Blankenship Hall, 901 Woody Hayes Drive 와 학교 안에 일자리 잡은 곳에도 가지고 가면 알아서 정보 업데이트 해 줍니다.
F-1 On Campus Employment F-1 students may work up to 20 hours per week on-campus when classes are in session, and over 20 hours per week during quarter breaks and during the student’s annual vacation quarter.
Work off-campus must be authorized by an Immigration Coordinator in the Office of International Affairs.
On-campus employment includes work done as a teaching or research assistant as well as jobs in the school library, cafeteria, and administrative offices.
Students may work in restaurants on campus such as Wendy’s in the Ohio Union and in the University Hospital, Oxley’s in the Fawcett Center and in the Ohio State Golf Course restaurant.
Students may work at Barnes and Noble, the Human Resources office and the Apartments at the South Campus Gateway. They may not work at any other business at the South Campus Gateway.
International students are not eligible for the federal “Work Study” program, which is a form of federal financial aid for domestic students.
On-campus employment is not permitted after graduation until Optional Practical Training (OPT) begins.
