Columbus Dragon Boat Race- May 28th, 2012 on Scioto Mile

The Asian Festival in Columbus is an annual event with more than 100,000 visitors for the two day festival on Memorial weekend.  This festival has grown, thanks to the strong participation of many people regardless of origin and ethnicity. Because of the tremendous success, the festival has received strong support from state, city, corporate, and communities every year since its beginning in 1995. The festival is also recognized as one of the major special events in Central Ohio.

In 2010, the Asian Festival brought Dragon Boat racing to Columbus and held on the Scioto River.  Dragon boat racing is a team sport with high energy and requires team unity to propel the boat forward. A team consists of 20 paddlers and the sport is accessible to all ages and fitness levels.  To learn more about dragon boat races, please click on the link The Columbus Dragon Boat Race or go to www.asian-festival.org/dragonboat.

2012 will be a banner year for Columbus Dragon Boat race as we plan to expand up to 30 teams. With the grand opening of the Scioto Mile and upcoming Columbus Bicentennial Celebration, Dragon Boat racing will be part of this grand celebration by showcasing the diversity of our city in arts and sports.   Dragon Boat racing will also foster learning and exploration of diverse multi-cultural heritage, especially that of the Asian-American heritage in Ohio.

To achieve our goal we will need supporters like you. Therefore, we are inviting you to become part of 2012 Columbus Dragon Boat race.
