Position Available:                  Project Manager – Health Through Action Initiative

Location:                                 Cleveland, Ohio

Pay Rate:                                 $36,982 - $39,998 salaried (based on qualifications) with medical and retirement benefits, generous time off package, opportunities for skills/job training and promotions.

                                                           
BACKGROUND
The Health Through Action Initiative (HTA) is a four-year capacity building grant sponsored by the Asian Pacific Islander Health Forum (Health Forum) and funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.  Its purpose is to strengthen capacity of community collaboratives to address health issues.  The long term goal is to build a statewide infrastructure to better advocate for policy, funding and system changes to improve the health of Ohio Asian Americans.  The Statewide Project Manager will be located in the Cleveland/Akron area and will travel regularly to Cincinnati, Dayton, and Columbus.  ASIA will furnish a company car.  This position has a strong potential for a broader and more extensive leadership role and job title promotion.

 

Under the supervision of the Statewide Project Director, the Project Manager supervises the regional coordinators in the planning and implemention of program activities, meeting program goals, objectives and performance benchmarks, and supervising program activities and progress in all grant specified regional areas and cities. The manager is responsible for preparing and submitting accurate activity and budget reports to the Project Director.  A minimum of 15% of this position will focus on program evaluation. 

 

Founded in 1995, Asian Services In Action (ASIA) is a community-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Akron and Cleveland.  ASIA’s mission is to empower Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) in Northeastern Ohio to access quality, culturally, and linguistically appropriate information and services. 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to Statewide Project Director, the Project Manager:

  1. Participates in establishing overall goals, objectives and initiatives for HTA.
  2. Oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of the program’s work plan in coordination with the Director.
  3. Provides leadership and direction to Regional Coordinators or other staff as assigned by the Director.
  4. Attends and participates in coalition and partnership meetings and activities
  5. Works in partnership with the Director on grant writing projects.
  6. Assists in the development of reports and other program documents.
  7. Assists in conducting site visits and on-site program supervision.
  8. Works in partnership with HTA Evaluator on all aspects of the program’s evaluation.
  9. This position will require regular travel within the State of Ohio.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Masters level education in public health, social services, or public administration or Bachelors degree with at least 3-5 years experience in any one of those areas.  Strong evaluation training preferred.
  2. Experience in program management within nonprofit social services setting with strong grantwriting and networking skills.
  3. Prior experience in Hepatitis B or other health areas is strongly preferred as well as understanding of local, regional and state level policymaking. 
  4. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem solving skills.
  5. Experience in public health, nonprofit or related field.
  6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  7. Must have knowledge and experience working with disparate and diverse populations; understanding of the Ohio Asian American populations and their respective non-traditional social networks. 
  8. Must have a valid Ohio State Driver’s License and must pass a criminal background check.
