Greetings from OIA,

All international students, scholars, and employees present in the U.S. during 2010 need to file tax forms, regardless of whether or not you were employed or paid.
Those of you who have created accounts in GLACIER should review your account information to ensure that it is still accurate.  If you receive income from OSU and have not yet created an account with GLACIER but would like to, please contact the Tax Office: taxoffice@osu.edu to request access.
As you may know, during tax season an additional program called CINTAX becomes available for you to use to fill out your tax forms.  CINTAX passwords will be sent out to all GLACIER users by March 15th.
If you have not received U.S.-source income, you can request access to CINTAX to prepare your tax form by sending an e-mail to taxoffice@osu.edu after March 15th.  You do not need to create a GLACIER account.

An electronic copy of the demonstration can be found here: http://www.ctlr.ohio-state.edu/acc/tax-home.shtm  Just a reminder that CINTAX helps you prepare your tax return(s), but your prepared tax return must still be MAILED to the IRS.

Detailed information about U.S. taxes can be found here: http://www.ctlr.ohio-state.edu/pay/pay-nonres.shtm#guide

If you choose to use a different company to help you complete your tax returns please remember that the IRS currently does not allow non-residents to file electronically.  If a program offers electronic filing to you, you are filing the wrong forms.  Additionally, many offices that provide tax return services are not familiar with non-resident tax rules.  If you decide not to use CINTAX, be sure to ask this question before paying a company to help file your taxes.
