ReadAloud invites the community to join us for our fall program in the Thompson Library.  Please stop by and enjoy faculty, staff, students and community members reading from their favorite works.

November 3, Thursday, 3-4 pm, Mortar Board Centennial Suite             (Thompson Library Room 202)

Dr. Dick Davis, Department Chair of Near Eastern Languages & Culture, will read from his own books of poems, including his Persian translations of The Conference of the Birds (a mystical narrative), The Shahnameh (an epic), Vis and Ramin (a romance, and the probable source of the Tristan and Isolde story), and from a book of translations entitled Three Poets of Shiraz.

The three are Hafez, the best known lyric poet of Iran, Jahan Khatun, the only woman poet of medieval Iran whose complete works have come down to us - she's a great poet and virtually unknown, and Obayd–e Zakani. They all lived in the same city during the 14th century city.
